After the vivid and captivating opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in Delhi; the goal with which the games were organized, that of promoting sport in India, seems to have received a boost. Many new sportsmen are coming to the fore and the increasing tally of medals in the Delhi CWG also seems to play a motivation role to budding sportspersons. Under such a scenario, it is essential that the country’s sports officials create a league called ‘Playgroup India’. This league, or better called as Playgroup India, should be dedicated to creating a pool of players who could perform at the highest level. Such sports members of Playgroup India can be from varied sports and the league must necessarily involve players from the better known sports in the country like cricket, hockey, tennis, etc. Such varied involvement of players in Playgroup India would promote common learning among players.
Therefore, if cricketers are a part of Playgroup India, they would act as motivators and idols to the other members of playgroup India who are from less known sports. This is because the cricketers garner immense popularity in the country and they would be able to share, with the other members of Playgroup India, about various components like handling popularity and reaching the top. Playgroup India would eventually have the objective of creating a pool of players who would come together to play. During the Playgroup India training periods, all the players would stay together and train at the same facilities. The advantages of having such Playgroup India would be manifold. The first advantage of Playgroup India would be to the younger members of Playgroup India or the players who represent less popular sports. Such members of Playgroup India would gain in confidence by representing the country along with the legends of Indian sport.
Another advantage of Playgroup India would be that while training all sportspersons would be able to learn from each other. This is because all sports have similar components in training and by the virtue of being a part of Playgroup India; the players of one sport would be able to learn from and even guide players from other sports. Over and above this, Playgroup India would have a special advantage for Playgroup India members; that of providing the Playgroup India members with the best coaches in fitness as well as the respective sport. This is because the Playgroup India would have a group of best players from across the country and efforts would be concentrated only on certain players instead of going player searching through the country. Also, the fitness coaching under Playgroup India could be common for Playgroup India sportspersons from varied sports.
